Products I Love ~ Kusmi Tea

by Sharon on May 3, 2013

I’m a big tea drinker. My mom drank tea, my grandma drank tea, my beau drinks tea, his family drinks tea, my sister drinks tea, the brothers drink tea…there’s a whole lotta tea drinkin’ going on!

I was at Anise Apothecary in downtown Burlington and bought this tea on a whim. I enjoy green tea for both taste and numerous health benefits, including revving up your metabolism, so I always look for different varieties to try out. I was initially drawn in by the packaging. Beautiful bright colours and inspired graphics.

This particular blend was mate, green tea and lemongrass. After I got a whiff of the aroma I knew this was the tea for me. The lemongrass does double duty by promoting digestion and tasting lemony fresh! It has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries for many things, one being to protect the digestive tract from food poisoning and infections.

If you haven’t heard of mate you’re not alone. It was new to me until about a year ago when on a seasonal cleanse where coffee was on the ‘things you can’t have’ list. Mate is from a relative of the holly bush and contains caffeine but with a more relaxing effect. It is also very rich in antioxidants.

I can’t say enough about the health benefits of tea. This one in particular to give you some energy and put a little pep in your step. I’m trying to cut down on the increasingly regular habit I’ve picked up lately which is drinking a tad too much coffee and am using this tea to wean myself. I’ll keep you posted on my progress;)

This tea is excellent and will now replace my usual, ho hum green tea bags. It also gives me the chance to use the super cute loose leaf teapot my BFF, Julie gave me last summer:)

If you live in the Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton area and can pop down to Anise, do yourself a favour and pick some of this great Kusmi Tea. If geographically this isn’t feasible try to source it out online or in your local area.
