How do you keep Greek salad from getting watery?Cucumbers have a lot of moisture that can release and make for a watery salad. Using the lettuce in this recipe helps to absorb it- lettuce isn't a traditional Greek salad ingredient. I also recommend enjoying this salad the same day. Leftovers just aren't the same.
This salad is delicious alongside grilled meats like chicken, pork, or steak with a dollop of tzatziki sauce. It also pairs well with seafood like salmon, halibut, or cod. For vegetarian protein add some chickpeas or beans to the mix!
Another delicious addition to greek salad recipes is of course olives! Both kalamata olives and black olives leave a lovely hint of salty flavor.
If you don't have a mason jar you can whisk the dressing ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
If you have them, stir in a few tablespoons of fresh herbs such as fresh dill to the dressing for a taste variety
