Easy Fall Simmer Pot That Smells Delicious

Add a touch of fall to your home by simmering a non-toxic, cozy potpourri that you can enjoy all season long. This Fall Simmer Pot Recipe is cheap and easy!

  • Slice the fruit into ¼-inch thick slices. Leave the peels on!
  • Place the sliced fruit in a large saucepot and add the spices.
  • Cover with water and fill the pot ¾ full.
  • Over medium-high heat, bring the concoction to a light boil then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Leave simmering as long as desired, adding more water as needed.

Notes

  • How long do you boil a simmer pot? A minimum of 2-3 hours is recommended to really notice the aroma in your house but you can let it brew all day! Just keep adding water as necessary as it will boil down and you don't want it to burn.
  • Turn it into a gift by making a basket with the fruit, a knob of ginger, whole cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks. Add a pretty card with instructions.
  • Substitute any citrus fruit! Both limes and grapefruit are lovely.
  • Vary the herbs you use! Fresh rosemary sprigs go beautifully with lemon, vanilla extract, and lavender. 
  • Use a tsp of your fave pumpkin spice blend to make it easy peasy.
