Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh green beans
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4-5 cloves fresh garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Start by washing the beans and trimming the ends off.
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the beans to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes. They are ready when the color has turned bright green.
  • Meanwhile, peel and mince the garlic.
  • Once the beans are ready, drain them and set them aside.
  • Next, heat the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Once the butter and oil have melted together, add the minced garlic and saute for 30 seconds. Don't overcook it! You don't want it browned or burnt.
  • Add the beans to the pan with the butter and garlic, and toss well to coat them with the butter and garlic.
  • Saute, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes until they are crisp-tender.
  • Season the beans with salt and pepper and toss again.
  • Serve warm.
