Master Cleanse – Halfway Update!
As this is posted I will be on Day Five of my Master Cleanse. Phew! I’m happy to report that time is going pretty quickly. I’ve actually had a super busy past few days, which I think has helped.
If you’re just tuning in, I have embarked on my second Master Cleanse. Unlike the first time I did it, this time I am doing the recommended ten days drinking only the blend of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, fresh lemon and filtered water.
If you’re curious as to the purpose of these ingredients I’ll give you a quick rundown.
Water. Well, that speaks for itself, no? No water, no life. Boom.
The lemon is the richest source of minerals and vitamins of any food known to man. It also tastes fresh and delicious! Cayenne pepper is a blood builder, it also stimulates the elimination of toxins. Pure maple syrup is the most perfectly balanced of all sweeteners. It is used to balance the lemon and achieve the desired results of cleansing.
So, how am I doing so far? Pretty good. The first time I did the Master Cleanse, I also tried the salt water flush. This is drinking a quart of water with non-iodized salt for the purpose of ‘flushing’ your system. You know what I mean, right? Winky face. Sadly, it was an epic fail. This go round I’m opting for the laxative tea route.
Stanley Burroughs’ book, The Master Cleanser (which I advise you check out if you want to give this cleanse a try), states that an herbal laxative tea, taken before bed and first thing in the morning should achieve great results in moving your bowels.
This, my friends, did not fail. To be perfectly honest, it is almost working too well! I’ve been taking it before I go to sleep, at around 11pm and have been woken up at 4am to head straight to the bathroom. The second morning, I drank it and foolishly headed out to run a few errands. Big mistake! There was almost an incident in the post office but luckily I made it home before anything terrible happened. Whew! I decided to skip the AM laxative tea for the next couple of days because of work. It’s definitely not an activity I want to either explain or partake in while working, ifyouknowwhatImean. 😉
I have to say. I’m feeling pretty good. I little tired due to the 4am wake up calls, but otherwise I’ve felt fairly normal. I’ve still managed to exercise, work, and function as normal.
Five more days to go!
I’ll check in again with you on Wednesday for another update.
Good job, Sharon! I had to smile about your post office near-miss. I remember the day I decided to abandon the morning ‘Smooth Move’. At least you avoided having to change your name to Sharton due to the extra ‘t’!
😉
Thanks Todd! I’m officially done with the tea as of today, which is the end of day 8. I think I’ve had enough ‘eliminating’. 😉 I’m in the home stretch and feeling good. 🙂
Congrats on getting half way through! And with no embarrassing incidents either 😉 So you arent hungry at all yet? I am hungry ALL THE TIME usually, so I do wonder how I would go with this, especially for 10 days! Kudos to you though for doing so well, very impressive 🙂
I’ve felt hungry once or twice but I’ve kept on top of having the juice at regular intervals. Thanks for your encouragement! I’m surprising myself at how well I’m holding up. 😉
