IN THIS POST: Everything you need to make a Healthy Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients for this recipe
- almond milk – any non-dairy milk
- hemp seeds – this gives the smoothie a creamy texture
- strawberries – frozen strawberries work best for frothy smoothies – many are frozen from fresh strawberries
- vanilla
- maple syrup – this lends a bit of added sweetness
- ice cubes
You may notice that there is no yogurt or ice cream in this recipe. Using plain yogurt, greek yogurt or vanilla yogurt is pretty common and I have lots of smoothie recipes that use them like this Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie. For this recipe though, we are making a healthy strawberry smoothie without yogurt so if you are vegan or avoiding dairy this one is for you.
How to make this recipe
Add the ingredients to a blender in the order they listed – meaning put the liquid in first. This helps the blending process go much smoother. Blend until creamy and frothy and serve chilled.

FAQ’S, Tips + Substitutions
- Are strawberry smoothies healthy? Using healthy ingredients means a healthy smoothie!
- TIP! Add the liquid to the blender first and the berries last. Everything blends together easier with the liquid at the bottom.
- For flavor variations, you can use different frozen fruit like mango or pineapple or add a variety of berries like blueberries or raspberries.
- Substitute honey for the maple syrup as a natural sweetener, just remember that it is no longer considered vegan.
- Add a handful of spinach or kale for a green smoothie variation
- Any milk will work! Other plant-based options include coconut milk or hemp milk.
- Blend in a scoop of chocolate protein powder for a chocolate strawberry taste.
