So before we get to the juice, an introduction is in order. I’d like you to meet the newest member of the family…
So exciting. I’ve been loving the idea of creating a variety of fresh, thirst quenching juices, especially now that the summer heat is here. And when you consider certain health benefits of juicing, it’s a win win situation. I will admit that I was really swayed in the juicing direction after watching “Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead” which is a documentary available on Netflix. Even though I don’t fall into those categories, I’m always interested in learning about people’s journey to health and what works for them. What is their key to sticking with a healthier lifestyle and what motivates them.
This film featured juicing as a way to help with not only weight loss, but skin conditions, detoxing the body and giving your hard working digestive system a well deserved rest.
To ease ourselves into the idea of juicing, I thought I’d start with something fruity. I like the idea of something a little more on the tart side, which was why I chose lemons and green apples. I always been a fan of the sour and if you like a little ‘pucker’ then this is the juice for you.
What’s more beautiful than a flawless piece of fresh fruit? They use it as a model for artwork for a reason. Real food is so pretty. 🙂
Here is my bounty ready for the juicer:
If you’re interested in the brand I purchased, I went with the Breville Juice Fountain Plus. I did pretty extensive research, as it’s a higher ticket item, and found that the Breville would be best for my purposes. I picked it up on sale for 15% off at the Bay. Always wait for sales on these more expensive appliances. They always go on sale. So far, I really like my Breville and it’s worked like a charm.
This is the juice and froth that separates form it. The container that holds the fresh juice as it comes out has a filter on it that holds back the foam from going into the glass. Useful!
This juice is so refreshing. Lemon, lime and green apple. Simplicity. You don’t need anything else.
Tastes best served on the rocks with a twist. 😉 If it’s a beautiful, sunny afternoon? Even better.
