Why you will love this recipe
This healthy Big Mac sauce recipe gives you a more wholesome option for dressing your burgers.
You can skip all the mystery ingredients in the fast food version and stir together your own. It is so easy. Who needs McDonald’s anyway? Not us!
This recipe is naturally gluten-free, low carb and keto. Bonus!

Ingredients
Find the complete ingredient list, with measurements, in the recipe card below.
- Mayo – My homemade lemon mayonnaise is always my first choice.
- Pickles – Chopped dill pickles mimic the OG ‘special sauce’.
- Tomato Paste – This adds color and flavor without any sugar. We purchase tomato paste in a tube.
- Vinegar – I generally use white vinegar because of my picky eater, but you could also use apple cider vinegar if you wanted extra health benefits.
- Mustard – Choose a brand of yellow mustard without added sweeteners.
- Spices – I use onion powder and garlic powder for seasoning the sauce.
Expert Tip!
Buy tomato paste in a tube! It keeps in the fridge for months, so you’ll never waste the rest of a can again. Use only what you need.

Equipment
Knife and Chopping Board – This is to chop up the pickles.
Mixing Bowl and Spoon – I also use a spatula to stir, as it scrapes down the sides so well, and I am fully committed to tidy stirring. haha
- BPA-free and odorless, ensuring food safety in prepping, washing, baking, mixing, and serving.
- There is non-slip rubber at the bottom of the plastic bowl to prevent slipping while mixing.
Instructions

Step 1
First, chop your Pickles.
Step 2
Then add all of the ingredients to a small mixing bowl and stir to combine.
And that’s it, folks! Super easy as promised.

Expert Tip!
For optimal taste, let the sauce rest in the fridge for an hour or so to allow the flavors to meld together.

Substitutions and recipe variations
Swap plain Greek yogurt for mayo for an even lighter version.
Use ketchup instead of tomato paste – but look for a brand that doesn’t use sugar to keep it clean.
Skip the chopping of the pickles entirely and use relish instead.
You can also add a splash of pickle juice instead of vinegar.
Serving suggestions
The most obvious – spread it on your burger bun with the rest of your fixings and toppings. It is also tasty with veggie burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches or wraps. It is like the perfect condiment.
Use as a sauce for burger bowls or salads to make them next-level delicious.
We love it as a dip for oven-baked French fries or baked potato wedges.
