Blueberry Spinach Smoothie
A simple and healthy recipe for Blueberry Spinach Smoothie that is made creamy without yogurt and sweet without banana. A quick and easy weight loss breakfast recipe with no dairy.
Smoothies are a quick and healthy way to fuel your day. This Blueberry Spinach Smoothie has a ton of nourishing ingredients that will hydrate you and boost your energy.
So if you are asking are spinach smoothies healthy, you’ve got your answer. They are!
INGREDIENTS FOR THIS BLUEBERRY SPINACH SMOOTHIE
The nice thing about smoothies is you can use up what you might have lurking in your fridge. Like that handful of frozen berries hiding in the bottom of a bag in the freezer or a few leaves of greens about to languish in your crisper.
Throw them all in a smoothie! Boom. Nothing is wasted and you have given your body some essential vitamins and nutrients.
This is what I used to make this creamy Blueberry Spinach Smoothie.
- frozen blueberries
- fresh baby spinach
- cucumber
- coconut water (plain water works fine too)
- avocado
- protein powder or hemp seeds (optional)
What does adding spinach to a smoothie do? It gives you a good punch of vitamin K, vitamin A, and vitamin C. It is also a good source of manganese, magnesium, iron, and vitamin B2. Nice!
Can you put raw spinach in a smoothie? Yes, you can but I recommend using baby spinach which is milder in flavor.
I also like to add protein powder or a few tablespoons of hemp seeds if I plan on having this smoothie as a light meal replacement.
The protein helps give the smoothie staying power and will keep you fuller for longer.
TIPS FOR A CREAMY SMOOTHIE
I love a thick and creamy smoothie, don’t you? Here are some of my top tips to achieve that perfect smoothie.
- Use frozen fruit
- Add ripe avocado
- Use coconut milk instead of water
- Add protein powder
- Sprinkle in hemp seeds or chia seeds

I love the use of coconut water and cucumber in this smoothie – so refreshing. I used collagen powder and hemp seeds for the add ins – so good!
Oooh collagen powder! Sounds fab. 🙂
Sometimes it’s hard to hide spinach in smoothies but blueberries do a perfect job of that with their beautiful colour. I’ve never thought of using cucumber in a smoothie, I bet it’s super refreshing.
Yes to cucumber! It adds a ton of hydration too. It is a strong flavour though.
This was the perfect start to my morning! I always have these ingredients in my fridge and freezer, so this will be on my regular smoothie rotation from now on. So good. Thanks for sharing.

So good! Always looking for more ways to use up all those blueberries I freeze every summer! I made this with mixed baby greens and added chia and hemp instead of the protein powder. Delish!
