Instant Pot Apple Crumble

This Apple Crumble recipe is one of the easiest desserts you can make in the Instant Pot. This vegan and gluten-free dessert is perfect for beginners.

Ingredients 

  • Flour
  • Coconut sugar – If you don’t have coconut sugar, brown sugar is an alternative.
  • Salt
  • Coconut oil –  For a non-vegan version use melted butter instead of coconut oil.
  • Apples – Any apple variety will work in this recipe. My faves are honey crisp or granny smith apples.
  • Cinnamon
  • Water
  • Maple syrup

How to make this recipe

I love that this recipe is only about 10 minutes for prep time.

First, in a medium bowl, stir together the oats, flour, coconut sugar, and salt.

Second, pour the coconut oil over the oat mixture and stir well, coating the oats well and getting some clumping action with the sugar.

Place the bowl in the fridge.

Next, peel and chop the apples into chunks. Place the chopped apples into the instant pot. 

Sprinkle them with cinnamon and pour the maple syrup over top.

Cover with water.

Then drop the oat mixture evenly on top of the apples. 

Finally, lock the lid in place, turn the valve to the sealing position, and pressure cook

Serve warm.

Expert tip

Placing the crumble topping in the refrigerator while peeling and chopping the apples helps to make a crunchier topping.

Recipe Variations

  • Add chopped pecans to the oat mixture.
  • For added fall flavors sprinkle half a tsp of nutmeg into the apple filling in the pressure cooker before covering it with the topping.

  • In a small mixing bowl, stir together the oats, flour, coconut sugar, and salt. Pour the coconut oil over and stir well, coating the oats. Place in the fridge.
  • Peel and chop the apples into 1-inch chunks. Place the chopped apples into the liner pot. Sprinkle them with the cinnamon and pour the maple syrup over top. Cover with the water.
  • Take the oat mixture out of the fridge and drop it evenly over top of the apples.
  • Lock the lid in place and seal the valve. Press manual and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Allow the pressure to fully release naturally. Carefully remove the lid.
  • Serve the apple crumble warm.
